The safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is of paramount importance at all times.

Safeguarding

Our Early Years Foundation Stage includes Nursery provision. We offer 30 hours of provision alongside the Reception class: 8.45 – 11.45, 11.45 – 2.45, with the option of staying for the final half hour until 3.15 for a small cost. Our teacher Miss Stewart is a supported by teaching assistant Mrs McCormick.

For further information, or to apply for a place in Nursery, please contact the school or refer the Cumbria County Council’s School Admissions Section ‘Applying for a Nursery Place’. In the event of our Nursery being over-subscribed, our usual Admissions Policy applies.

The school day begins at 8:50am each day with registration. Children can be dropped off from 8.45am each day either to the classroom door (EYFS and KS1) or left on the playground (KS2) where there will a member of staff supervising. There is a morning break from 10.30 – 10.45 for Nursery/Reception and KS1 and 11am until 11.15am for KS2. Lunchtime is between 12:15pm and 1:15pm. There is an afternoon break for Nursery/Reception and KS1 from 2:30pm—2:45pm.

The school day finishes at 3:20pm. Parents are asked to wait in the front playground and teachers will direct children to the adult who is collecting them.

For our children in Nursery we offer a flexible approach to provision where parents can select the hours they wish their child to attend. Please contact us to discuss the options available.

The safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is of paramount importance at all times. Beetham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
