I was delighted to be appointed headteacher of Beetham CE School in September 2021.

I was taken aback by the friendly and caring atmosphere of the school and how the community and church are at the heart of decisions and the education provided.

I will be working hard within school to continue Beetham CE School’s successes; building on the hard work that the school has already done as well as adding my own initiatives along the way.

I have been teaching for 16 years and still enjoy the challenge and excitement of helping children to learn. Seeing those moments of excitement on children’s faces when achieving a personal goal. I have taught many year groups during my time as a teacher and am very much looking forward to teaching the juniors once again.

When I’m not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family playing sports and going for walks. I also enjoy horse riding and reading children’s books as well as a bit of off-roading in our Land Rovers. I love travelling and finding out about new places all around the world.

I am looking forward to being part of the Beetham team and working with all the children who made me feel so welcome on my visits to school.

Hello! My name is Mrs Tattersall, and I teach Reception. I have two children, a dog called Winnie and a cat called Rhubarb. I love going caravanning with my family to Devon, where we bodyboard! I love visiting France as I have family who live there, and I love teaching French too!

My name is Mrs Klijn and I teach Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

My love of Science has led to my nickname Professor Klijnstein. I also love teaching Music which I am lucky enough to lead with Y2&3 as well as Y4,5&6 this year.

A highlight of the school year for me is the wonderful performances we put on. They happen in the Heron Theatre across the road which we are so blessed to be able to use for our end of year performances. I also love our performances at the Brewery Dance Platform in Kendal.

My hobbies include reading, baking, running as well as walking my dog, Teddy. I also have 3 cats but one of them thinks he is a dog and likes to join us for dog walks in the local fields which can confuse people we pass!

I think the best thing about teaching at Beetham is how everyone is friendly, smiley and enjoys learning.

Hi, I’m Mrs. McCormick and I am the early years Teaching assistant working with Mrs Tattersall. I am married with two children, a dog called Eddie and a Hamster called Cheese who likes to keep me awake at night! My mum lives with us too which is great for sharing chats and cups of tea.

I love spending time with my family doing anything from walking in the hills to having a hot chocolate in our favourite cafe. We spend a lot of time working in our garden where we are trying to grow our own veggies, keep hens and be a little more self-sufficient. I love working at Beetham, it is such a warm and friendly school.

My name is Mrs Sansom and I teach Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. I also do supply which gives me the opportunity to work across all age ranges in school.

It is only my second year at Beetham and I feel very lucky to come and work in such a happy, caring school. The children and the staff make it a very special place to be.

Outside of school, I have 3 football mad boys, which means you can find me every weekend standing beside a pitch, in all types of weather!

Hello, I am Miss Christine.

My day starts at Breakfast Club, where children are welcome from 8am before starting their day at school. I also cover lunch duty and try to get out on the school field every day, where the children can enjoy their free time. After school I run Tea Club, where we engage in a whole host of activities. I love my job!

Out of school, I enjoy crafting, exploring the woods and having cups of tea with my best friend.

Hi! I'm Mrs Shaw and I am the School Administrator here at Beetham, as well as being a Teaching Assistant and helping out at After School Club. After 20 years working in Environmental Health I took the decision to have a career change and re-trained as a Teaching Assistant.  After qualifying I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to work at Beetham - our local school, which my son attended. I love working with the all staff and pupils and am proud to be part of the school team. When I'm not at school I enjoy walking, yoga and travelling - often all at the same time!

Hello! My name is Miss Stewart and I teach in Nursery, Reception and Year 1.

I graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Ethics, Philosophy and Religion prior to joining the University of Cumbria to undertake my PGCE in General Primary Teacher. I was therefore delighted at the end of my studies to be given the opportunity to join such a friendly and caring school.

When I’m not in school I enjoy spending time with my family. I also enjoy socialising with friends, baking and cake decorating.

Hello! My name is Andrew, the Vicar of Beetham and ex-officio Foundation Governor.

I’ve been the Priest in Charge of the parishes of St Michael and All Angels, Beetham and St James, Arnside with Storth since July 2019. Before that I was over on the other side of the Bay as the Assistant Curate of the Cartmel Peninsula Team Ministry serving nine parishes in the south of the Diocese of Carlisle.

As well as serving as being involved here at Beetham, I’m also involved (and serve as a Governor) at Arnside and Storth Church of England Primary Schools. Within the wider Diocese, I’m kept quite busy, serving on various committees including the Bishop’s Council. I’m also one of the Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands, supporting candidates exploring a call to ordained ministry.

I’m a native Cumbrian, born and brought up on Solway Firth in the village of Abbey Town. I studied History as an undergraduate at Selwyn College, Cambridge. Not longer after this I was selected to train by the Church of England for ordained ministry and so completed a Theology degree at the University of Oxford whilst studying at Ripon College Cuddesdon.

I enjoy good quality television, exploring, reading, learning new things, a wide range of music, trying to improve my skills as a cook and laughing.

Hi all! I'm Hannah and I'm the Assistant Curate (or, as some might say, trainee vicar) of Beetham and the surrounding Kent Estuary Mission Community. I have the pleasure of coming into this wonderful school to help lead Collective Worship times and being involved with supporting the school community in other ways when I can. Before 'vicar training' I was a music teacher working in and out of schools and have worked with children and young people in various church settings.

I have 2 primary-aged children and 4 chickens. As a family, we love to go exploring in this beautiful part of the world in which we live and eating ice cream!
