Our Early Years Foundation Stage includes Nursery provision. We offer 30 hours of provision alongside the Reception class: 8.45 – 11.45, 11.45 – 2.45, with the option of staying for the final half hour until 3.15 for a small cost. Our teacher Miss Stewart is a supported by teaching assistant Mrs McCormick.

For further information, or to apply for a place in Nursery, please contact the school or refer the Cumbria County Council’s School Admissions Section ‘Applying for a Nursery Place’. In the event of our Nursery being over-subscribed, our usual Admissions Policy applies.

The school day begins at 8:50am each day with registration. Children can be dropped off from 8.45am each day either to the classroom door (EYFS and KS1) or left on the playground (KS2) where there will a member of staff supervising. There is a morning break from 10.30 – 10.45 for Nursery/Reception and KS1 and 11am until 11.15am for KS2. Lunchtime is between 12:15pm and 1:15pm. There is an afternoon break for Nursery/Reception and KS1 from 2:30pm—2:45pm.

The school day finishes at 3:20pm. Parents are asked to wait in the front playground and teachers will direct children to the adult who is collecting them.

For our children in Nursery we offer a flexible approach to provision where parents can select the hours they wish their child to attend. Please contact us to discuss the options available.

Friends of Beetham School (FOBS) is the fundraising committee here at the school. All parents and carers are automatically part of our FOBS family, when joining the school from Reception to year 6! Everyone is welcome to join, not just parents and carers, but family, friends and the community too. Our aim is to raise money to improve the school and its environment. This could be IT equipment (like new iPads and tablets and our whiteboards), upgrading the school building and outdoor space (like our amazing new ‘trim trail’ supplied by Pentagon Play), subsidising school trips, outdoor equipment and activities on the school field. We do this through organising fun events for the children and families and looking for grants.

FOBS hold around 4 fundraising activities each year which include, film nights, Winter Fair, Carol Singing and Duck day. In addition they run playground raffles which are the cake raffle held every Friday morning throughout the year and a summer term ice cream sale each Friday after school. There is also a second hand uniform rail in the porch, where you can pick up a bargain or donate good quality items. This operates with a donations bucket and again contributions are put back into the school.

FOBS have their AGM in September and this is a great way to meet other parents/carers, find out about new projects they are raising money for and have a say in any fundraising matters. They also plan the fundraising calendar and set dates for the years coming events.

FOBS tend to have around 4 meetings each year and these coincide with the events they are holding. FOBS mainly meet in the Wheatsheaf Pub in Beetham at 7.30pm. Exact dates will be notified though the school ParentMail. All are welcome to come down to the meetings.
